How to Get Cheap Reservations
So, you’ve got yourself cheap airfare and it’s a big savings for you and yet, you want to save more money on your trip. Another way to spend less is to know how to save on travel reservations.
Here’s how:
- Plan your trip on off seasons. Hotel, airline and car rental rates are lower in this time due to lower demand. You can save as much as 50% on your budget if you book a room during low season. All you have to do is to call the hotel if they have off season discounts and ask them when you can avail it.
- For some hostels, they give discounts to students, Senior citizens, military contingents, honeymooners and so on. Ask for these discounts and their details, this could save you a lot of money.
- Some hotels allow two kids for a two bed room provided that the children are in the age limitation. Just ask them if your children can stay for free.
- When it comes to unfamiliarity on the location of the hotel, you can search on the internet sites for “name-your-price” car rentals and hotel bookings. You can be sure that you’re not to over-budget because they will do the haggling for you.
- If you are arranging a long vacation, hotels and car rental companies can give you certain perks like giving “free days” if you use their services for over a week.
- Make it sure that the room fees are the only charges you are paying for. Because some hotels have surcharges and additional costs that aren’t discussed in room rates then later will pop up when you check-out. So before you reserve, everything must be cleared out for you. So by the time you check-out and suddenly find yourself with charges that you did not know about, you can refuse paying it.
- You may also exchange frequent Flier miles for hotel lodgings so if you’ve got an expiring miles card, or a miles card that you’d just need to dump, ask the hotel if they accept these exchanges.
- Sometimes hostels can provide free airfield pick-up. You may use this as negotiating tool. While you are negotiating, ask for a free pickup so you will get something additional whether or not you pay the full cost.
- If you still want to travel on peak season, just call in advance. Because as the season approaches, rates gets higher.
- You can also avail discounts on weekends because sometimes, weekend rates are lower than regular costs or vice versa. Ask your agent or the hotel if they have these, then you can plan your trip during these days.
- Don’t forget to ask for a confirmation number upon room reservation, in order that they cannot say that they did not receive your reservation.
