France is one of the top tourist destinations in the world. It has great cities like Paris – which is considered as one of the most beautiful cities on the planet-, more monuments, lovely nature, amazing mountain scenery in short, France has everything that you want to see during your holiday vacation.

France is indeed a good place to stay, it has good food, great wines and people enjoy their lives.

WEATHER

Except in the mountain areas, France has temperate climate with mild winters. Spring is the best time in France. Summer comes from June to early September and winter time is from mid-December to late March. High humidity, rain and biting westerly winds can experience in the northwest part but if you want hot summers and mild winters, the Mediterranean south is the perfect spot for you.

VISITING FRANCE

Millions of French families  descend on the coasts, mountains and other tourist areas during Christmas, New Year, mid-February to mid-March, Easter, July and August.

During this time and seasons, the roads are busy (traffic), high accommodation prices and crowded beaches and ski slopes. Shops closes in August, Sundays and public holidays.

ACCOMMODATIONS

In France, accommodation is the biggest expense. A minimum of €50 per night for a double room in a midrange hotel and over €120  on a top-end hotel. You can spend a €50 a day if you stay in hostels, eating bread and cheese. Spend €90 and up if you want to stay on midrange hotels, eat in restaurants and going to museums.

MONEY

Carry as little cash as possible while traveling around in France. The exchange rate is good but try to have local currency for taking taxis.

When it comes to money changing, commercial banks charge €3 to €5 per foreign-currency transaction. A charge of €3.40 to €5.30 to cash travelers cheques. Exchange bureaux in Paris are faster, easier, open longer hours and give better rates than most banks.

In Paris’ post office, they offer best exchange rates and accept banknotes in various currencies and same goes with American Express and Visa travelers cheques. Commission for travelers cheques is 1.5%.

SAFETY

France is a safe place whether for visitors and expats, however, crime has risen in the last few years. The major crime in the country is the property crime but it’s unlikely that you will be physically assaulted when walking down the street. Check your government’s travel advisory for warnings.

Theft is also a problem. Pickpocketing, bag snatching are commonly happened in dense crowds and public places. Tired tourists on the train from the airport are also a good target. Museums in Paris has an organized gangs with children who are trained pickpockets.

Just take a few precautions when going to places in France. Photocopy your passport, credit cards, plane tickets, driver’s license and other important documents. Leave one copy at home and keep one with you. Try to have a hidden money belt for safe keeping your money and valuable documents.

Be vigilant at train stations, airports, fast-food outlets, cinemas, outdoor cafes, beaches and on public transports.

LANGUAGE

The language in France is french. There are some Spanish,Italian,English speaking people.

FRENCH PEOPLE

French are one of the healthiest, wealthiest and best-educated people in the world.

They are known for their sophistication, culture and the beauty of their spoken language with their diverse accomplishments in literature, arts and sciences.
